Do not worry!

This testimony is a short recount of my personal battle against a medical condition and how God had healed me physically, mentally and spiritually.

Before enlisting into National Service on 2 January 2021, I was facing recurring issues of itchy scalp, dandruff and eczema on my face. I vividly recall noticing multiple black spots on my head once I had my hair shaved off. Equally worried, my parents suggested booking an appointment with a dermatologist. After careful examination by the doctors, I was diagnosed with severe scalp psoriasis.

I then understood, to my dismay, that psoriasis is a chronic, autoimmune skin condition which causes the scalp to produce thick layers of dandruff due to excess reproduction of skin cells.

At that point many different voices and thoughts raced through my head: Why does God allow it to happen? Will I be able to make friends in NS? What will others think of this dirty and unhygienic person? Will my condition worsen out in the field?

God had impressed upon my heart 2 bible verses over the first few weeks into enlistment:

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 6:26-27

Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

These 2 passages enabled me to see my situation from a different perspective, and that the seemingly humble act of prayer has power in mysterious ways we do not see.

After months of patience, prayer and thanksgiving, God has healed me (not completely, but the black spots are no longer visible anymore) of my psoriasis!

I figured that such challenging situations are a test of my faith and God will use me as a testimony for those struggling in similar situations, especially if they are facing an unexpected medical condition.

Therefore, here I am. Sharing my story to all who are reading this.

Know that in whatever circumstance you are going through, never underestimate the power of a simple prayer, for we know that God is faithful and will take care of us.

Theodore.
