Welcome to my blogpost, where we embark on a captivating exploration of this year’s camp theme “The Audience of One”.
In this post, we delve into the transformative power of intimate worship, where our focus shifts from performing for a crowd (which should not be the purpose of worship in the first place) to connecting deeply with the one true audience — God. Hopefully you will discover, as I did, how this camp theme inspires individuals to cultivate a personal and authentic relationship with the divine, fostering a journey of profound worship and spiritual growth.
So what is Worship?
If you were to ask people, ”What is worship?”, most of them would probably say something about singing in church.
But the reality is that worship is much more than just music.
In John 4:23, Jesus said,
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.”
First, let’s define what true Biblical worship is. The word “worship” comes from “worth ship”. To worship something is to prize it above everything else. To honour it as the thing of highest importance and to act accordingly.
The scary thing is that anything can be worshipped! Even a plushie!
So… Worship is when we give our deepest affections and highest praise to something. True worship of God is when we love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. It’s when we prize God above everything else and put Him first in our hearts.
My experience
I should tell you right now, at the beginning, I was unsure if I could make it for the camp because of my busy schedule in National Service. But thank God for His awesome plan in making my schedule free for this camp!
I’m grateful that Pastor Carol, Brother Joe & the camp team who made this happen! And also for inviting a wonderful speaker, Pastor Jonathan, to deliver us a powerful message from God. During the camp I have understood that worshipping is a lifestyle. Daily tasks in our life can also be a form of worshipping God.
I have learnt to look at my achievements as a blessing from God because without His strength and wisdom, I wouldn’t be able to achieve it!
In Philippians 4:13,
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
All Glory to God!
When we do our day-to-day tasks, we must try to really make God the centre of it all. Really worshipping Him every single day.
Evidently, the camp had touched the other participants too, instead of just me.
Here are some testimonials from some of the other youths and young adults.
- The youth and young adult camp was better than what I expected. Being my first youth camp, I was nervous to meet new people but I was not really that nervous when we started the games to break the ice. What I really liked was the gift bag that included some things like a hand fan written with scriptures that come in different colours. The snacks were really yummy too! I hope that the next camp will be longer. 🙂 – Eleora
- I had a great time during YAY camp! I really enjoyed the worship, the food, the games and the teachings by Pastor Jonathan. I truly felt God’s presence during the testimony sharings and believed that it helped me grow more as a Christian 🙂 – Elissaline
- The discussion about what worship really is, and how limiting ourselves to praising him only during a praise and worship session in church was really eye-opening. To be able to praise his name when we are happy is easy to me, but to do the same even during our toughest moments was something that I had never thought about. I’m grateful to the camp comm for the amazing and fun camp experience, and I’m happy to have signed up for this camp! – Anonymous (Joie)
In summary, “The Audience of One” theme invites us to embark on a profound journey of intimate worship, where our focus shifts from seeking the approval of others to wholeheartedly connecting with God. Through authentic encounters, vulnerability, and cultivating a lifestyle of worship, we deepen our relationship with the divine. As we gather in community, we amplify our worship and support one another in our individual journeys. Let us embrace the transformative power of the Audience of One, as we offer our sincere devotion and open our hearts to experience God’s love, grace, and presence in the most intimate of ways.
Thank you for your time! 🙂
Josiah.
